Trend Alert: When in doubt wear white

I went shopping with an old friend who happened to be in town because she had a flight into London. Working as an air hostess certainly has its pecks. Seeing as we had not seen each-other in a long time, the plan was to have brunch and go shopping (my favourite sport).
We made our way down to Bond Street the loud chime of the clock told me Selfridges was open…Our day could begin, I was keen to show her a part of Selfridges most people don’t know exists. We went to the high street part of the store that had shops like H&M, Topshop, Warehouse, and Ted Baker etc. of course she was impressed with the options of high street stores that are in Selfridges plus the fact that they stocked items that looked incredibly expensive but were at an affordable high street price.
It was evident whilst walking from store to store that the 70’s had made a massive comeback in fashion for Spring/Summer 2015. I gave myself a pat
on the back as last month, I wrote a 70’s inspired blog post (click here in case you missed it).

This week’s blog post was inspired by my shopping trip. The window display in Zara had an all white outfit paired with a brown knee-high gladiator sandal, it looked effortlessly chic, they managed to combine a romantic feel with a sense of playfulness whilst remaining extremely feminine and grown up. I was glued to the window however my bank balance at the time, dared me not to even think of venturing inside.

How to wear
White can be paired with so many different colours which mean there is plenty of room to be as creative as you dare and not to mention if done properly, scores you a lot of fashion points. Unlike most colours, white suits every skin tone. There is an unwritten rule about wearing white to a wedding, that only the bride is to wear white at a wedding of course this rule doesn’t apply if it’s been stated on the wedding invitation that guests should wear white.
I have put together a few looks, all of which can be worn on different occasions and would suit different shapes and size
and ages.

Look 1

This look can be worn to brunch date with the girls, trip to the cinemas, a stroll down to the river for some drinks whilst watching the sunset. Taller ladies would pull this off effortlessly for Petite ladies simply swap the culottes trousers for A-lined trousers to add structure and height. If you are worried that you are too clumsy to wear white, you can paint your nails white. 🙂

Look 2

This for me would be an outfit to be worn to a date. This would suit any body type from petite to athletic even the pear shaped  curvalicious hunnies 🙂 I only realized after putting all the pieces together, it is very similar to what Kim Kardashian would wear… I promise it wasn’t done on purpose

Look 3

Perfect for road trips. Cycling around town, shopping trips or even to a concert. I call this look (teenage dreams) plus you’ll be ticking off two trends in one with the addition of the white crochet kimono.

Look 4

My favorite look… I can imagine wandering around a new city in this outfit. Exploring the history and culture. The simplicity and femininity of the dress with the edginess of the knee high gladiators makes it my favorite. Tall/short/skinny/fat and everything in-between this would work a treat.

Look 5

Nude and white marriage made in fashion heaven… Perfect for summer BBQ parties, birthday parties any party. There is something about nude and white together that is just sheer perfection… if you are hesitant about wearing white from head to toe, offset your outfit with nudes.

Fashion for me must always contain a mix of individualism, character and an element of fun... My blog is the platform at which I can engage in two of my favorite things I.e. writing and fashion

  1. To me White says in a silky low tone, ‘I have money and class baby’. Its a great monochrome hue and oozes a particular sex appeal and confidence. I’m too clumsy for white but when Calvin Klein (and dozens of other designers) and Olivia Pope constantly return to this trend, they do bring out the fact that it will never go out of style. I also love white mixed with gold metallics!

    • Haha I remember just drooling over Olivier Poep’s white coat in scandal.
Absolute, it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, plus there’s no easier way to stand out from the crowd for the right reasons than with a beautifully combined all white ensemble. Ohh with a touch of gold accessories ?
